Black Book Series

Since the Mahsa-Jina revolution began in Iran in 2022, my understanding of freedom has profoundly transformed. That same year marked my first experience living abroad, where I navigated feelings of separation while remaining intrinsically connected to this revolutionary movement. These experiences deepened my desire to explore themes of freedom of speech and the censorship imposed by governments, particularly as they pertain to women.

The *Black Book Series I & II* emerged as the initial visual responses to this subject. Using etchings and monotypes, I collaged and drew on black surfaces, creating a series of artist books that contain a total of 30 drawings. *Black Book Series I* measures 20x20 cm, while *Black Book Series II* expands to 50x50 cm. These works lay the conceptual and aesthetic foundation for a new series I am currently developing.
